Discover Newport’s Brittany Lauro Named One of 30 Future Leaders of Destination Marketing
The organization’s social media manager will be honored at DMAI’s annual convention.

Newport (R.I.) July 13, 2016 – Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI), the trade association for official destination marketing organizations (DMOs) worldwide, has selected Brittany Lauro, Social Media Manager at Discover Newport, for a renowned "30 Under 30" award. The program focuses on identifying and developing the talent of destination marketing professionals 30 years of age and under through increased access and exposure to industry networking and thought leadership.

“Our nominating committee reviewed every submission and ultimately delivered an impressive roster for 2016,” said Bob Lander, Chair of DMAI. “I look forward to recognizing these 30 future leaders who have already demonstrated exceptional potential.”  

Lauro, a Connecticut native who studied English Communications at Salve Regina University has increased Discover Newport’s Instagram followers by 850 percent over one year and increased Facebook followers by 40 percent over one year. She manages the organization’s Twitter account, launched its Snapchat and increased views on the organization’s blog, From Stem to Stern, by 900 percent over one year.

“I’m truly honored by this award and excited about the opportunity it presents to broaden my enthusiasm for destination marketing via social platforms,” said Lauro. “Social media is one of the most critical segments of our marketing program,” added Kathryn Farrington, Vice President of Marketing at Discover Newport. “Brittany has exponentially grown our following on each of our widely-praised social channels. We are delighted she has been recognized for her accomplishments and we could not be more proud.”  

The 2016 honorees originate from a variety of destinations and backgrounds, from national tourism bureaus to local convention and visitors bureaus.
