Santa Claus is coming to town. And then he's coming back a few more times. Here's where you can find jolly ol' Saint Nick throughout Newport and Bristol County during the holiday season. We call that a holly jolly Christmas.

 

EVENTS

THE TRAIN TO SANTA'S WORKSHOP

Where: Newport and Narragansett Bay Railroad Co., 23 America's Cup Way
When: December 3-18, Saturdays and Sundays.
Details: Three different types of train rides will allow you to celebrate the season and enjoy time with the family. Depending on the train you can enjoy a breakfast ride with Santa, lunch ride with Santa, or a holiday ride where children participate in sing-a-longs, write a letter to Santa, and enjoy hot chocolate and sugar cookies while they travel to the North Pole.

 

Newport Skating Center Grand Re-Opening & Tree Lighting

Where: 4 Commercial Wharf, Newport
When: Friday, December 9, 5:00 PM
Details: The official return of Newport's Winter Wonderland to downtown will begin Friday a grand opening and tree lighting event. Enjoy Santa and the elves, carolers, treats, the debut of a new concessions food truck, a Fork in the Road by Blackstone Caterers and DJ Nook spinning holiday classics. Details.

 

Open House at Glen Manor House

Where: 3 Frank Coelho Drive, Porstmouth 
When: Sunday, December 11, 2:00 - 4:00 PM
Details: Free and open to the public, enjoy local talent at Glen Manor's Christmas open house. Santa arrives at 2:45 to greet children.

 

COMMUNITY TREE DECORATING

Where: Seaman's Church Institute, 18 Market Square
When: Saturday, December 17, 1:00 PM
Details: For tree decorating, bring an ornament and help decorate the tree. 2 p.m. Santa arrives and will read a classic Christmas tale.

 

CHILDREN'S HOLIDAY TEA

Where: Blithewold Mansion, Gardens & Arboretum, 101 Ferry Street Bristol
When: Monday, December 19, 4:00 - 6:00 PM
Details: Pose for photos with Santa in front of the Christmas tree. Then gather in the Dining Room to enjoy tea, hot chocolate, finger sandwiches, and fancy little desserts. From 5 pm to 6:00 pm, your child will be able to shop with Santa’s elves in Blithewold’s Twigbee Shop.

CLOCK TOWER SQUARE

Where: 103 Clock Tower Square, West Main Road, (RT114), Portsmouth
When: Saturday, December 10, 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM
Details: A visit with Santa Claus and cookie decorating is offered. Sponsored by the Merchants at Clock Tower Sq. Free.

 

MARBLE HOUSE

Where: 596 Bellevue Avenue, Newport
When: Sunday, December 11, noon - 3:00 PM 
Details: The Jolly old elf will visit with children and hear their Christmas wish list. Refreshments. Regular daytime admission.

 

NEWPORT VISITORS CENTER

Where: 23 America's Cup Avenue, Newport
When: Sunday, December 11, noon - 3:00 PM
Details: Come visit Santa in front of the Largest Gingerbread Lighthouse in America. Take photos and give Santa your wish list. Sponsored by Discover Newport.

When: Saturday, December 17, 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM

Details: Have photos taken with Santa from 4 –4:15 (first come first served) as well as cookie decorating. Santa will then read “Twas the night before christmas” from 5 to 515 when he has to head back to the North Pole
