Santa Claus is coming to town. And then he's coming back a few more times. Here's where you can find jolly ol' Saint Nick throughout Newport and Bristol County during the holiday season. New Englands Largest Gingerbread Lighthouse, Friday, December 4: Composed of 350 pounds of gluten-free gingerbread, 20 gallons of royal icing and 2,400 pieces of candy and giant lollipops, New England's largest gingerbread lighthouse stands 16 feet tall in the Newport Visitor Center. Santa will make an appearance on Friday, December 4 from 1-4 pm. Bristols Grand Illumination, Saturday, December 5: Travel to Hope Street in Bristol, Rhode Island for an evening of Holiday cheer. Celebrate with live entertainment and local talent starting at 4pm. Santa Claus arrives at 5:45pm, and he will select two lucky children to flip the switch and light the tree! Breakfast and Cookies with Santa and Mrs. Claus, Saturday, December 5: Enjoy a special breakfast, make an ornament and a holiday card for the troops, and have your picture taken with Santa & Mrs. Claus. $15 per person 5 years and older. Breakfast: 9-10 am, 10:30-11:30 am. Cookies: 1-2 pm, 2:30-3:30 pm. Bowens Wharf 45th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting, Saturday, December 5: A night full of cheer beginning at 4:30 pm with a visit from Frosty the Snowman followed by a Christmas carol sing-a-long at 5 pm. The mayor will light the tree at 6 pm where families can expect Santa and Mrs. Claus to arrive by boat (the Newport way, of course!). The event is free and open to the public. 17th Annual Photos with Santa, Saturday, December 5: Meet Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Audubon Society in Bristol. The event is free and open to the community. Santas Workshop, Saturday, December 5: Enjoy crafts, cookie decorating, one ride on the carousel, one ride on the mini train and goody bags. Annual Breakfast with Santa, Sunday, December 6: The Annual Breakfast with Santa returns with pancakes, a children's craft workshop, balloon twisting, face painting, a magic show and Rudolph raffle. 8-11 am. Pictures with Santa 9-10:30 am. $5 per person, children 5 and younger are free. Mt. Hope High School, Bristol. Annual Tree Lighting and Grand Opening of the Newport Skating Center, Friday, December 11: Celebrate with good cheer, hot cocoa and cookies, carolers, visits with Santa and the elves, and skating performances with the Island Skating Academy. 5pm. Christmas Open House at Glen Manor House, Sunday, December 13: Free and open to the public, enjoy local talent at Glen Manor's Christmas open house. Santa arrives at 2:45 to greet children. 2-4 pm. Visit with Santa Claus at Marble House, Sunday, December 13: As part of Christmas in Newport, Santa will visit with children and hear their Christmas wish list at this second grand mansion. Santa at the Clock Tower Square, Monday, December 14: Visit with Santa and enjoy cookie decorating from noon to 2 pm as part of Christmas in Newport. The event is free. Rt. 114 in Portsmouth. Community Tree Decorating and Santa Visit at Seamens Church Institute, Saturday, December 19: Bring an ornament and help decorate the tree beginning at 1 pm. Santa arrives at 2 pm and will read a classic Christmas tale. Free. Visit with Santa Claus at the Elms, Sunday, December 20: The jolly old elf will make his visit to the third and final mansion as part of Christmas in Newport to hear those final Christmas wish lists.
