Newport has long welcomed throngs daffodils that spout up this time of year, but 2014 mark the inaugural Daffodillion, a city-wide planting initiative. Through The Daffodil Project, nearly 160,000 daffodils have been planted throughout Newport during the past 7 years. These bright yellow blooms are prevalent along Cliff Walk, at Eastons Beach, at the Meeting House and on the J.T. Connell highway roundabout. This year, more than 30,000 bulbs were distributed to residents and organizations to help get to the goal of one having one million blooms paint the City-by-the-Sea.
