The Holiday season in Newport is one that evokes a certain feeling. Cobblestone streets twinkle with charm, the small shops that line them exude a sense of warmth and the Gilded Age magic is bedecked in yuletide finery. Truthfully, the holiday spirit in our historic little town brings a sense of comfort and gratitude like none other. This year, though, we're putting a spin on old traditions. Along with The Newport Marriott, we're working to create New England's largest gingerbread LIGHThouse. Composed of 350 pounds of gluten-free, organic gingerbread, 20 gallons of royal icing and 2,400 pieces of candy and giant lollipops, the 16-foot lighthouse will come to fruition after 100 hours of baking, building and decorating and will shine its beacon inside the Newport Visitor Center. Construction will begin on November 16, and the lighthouse will officially open to the public on Friday, November 27 through January 1, 2016. Hours: Saturday - Thursday: 9am - 4pm Fridays: 9am - 5pm Note: Santa is scheduled to visit on December 4 from 1-4pm.
