Every year, Newport Pride Weekend takes place throughout Newport, celebrating the LGBTQ+ community while promoting love, acceptance, inclusivity and diversity. This year, Pride Weekend returns June 25 - 27 with a full line-up of exciting events and experiences.

Rest assured, the safety and well-being of both visitors and locals remains our top priority. The mask mandate requiring face coverings in Rhode Island has been lifted, however local businesses may ask you to wear a mask when visiting their establishments. Please be prepared for individual business mask policies. Additionally, shops, attractions and tours are monitoring the number of guests at any given time and may ask you to socially distance to enter. 

All we ask when you land on these shores is that you play your part in keeping everyone safe. Please be kind, adhere to guidelines and maintain social distancing.

FLAG RAISING AT NEWPORT CITY HALL

When: Friday, June 11; 5:00 PM
Where: Newport City Hall, 43 Broadway

Watch as officials raise the rainbow flag that represents the welcoming of Pride Month and the LGBTQ+ community from the city.

NEWPORT PRIDE BIKE RIDE

When: Saturday, June 26; 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Where: Equality Park Place, Newport

Grab some friends and join Newport Out and Bike Newport for the third annual Newport Pride Ride. This easy 2-mile bike parade around Newport starts and concludes at Equality Park in time for the Equality Park Pride Market & Festival.

LECTURE: SCANDALOUS CONDUCT

When: Thursday, June 25; 6:00 - 7:00 PM
Where: Newport Art Museum

Join interdisciplinary artists Jason Tranchida and Matthew Lawrence for a fascinating talk that uncovers a little-known facet of Naval culture in 1919 Newport. Focused on the US Navy’s use of musical theater as a marketing tool, they’ll also touch on the music of the era, the Jack and the Beanstalk story, a brief history of Vaudeville, and how all this material relates to Tranchida’s and Lawrence’s larger, multi-year project.

PRIDE: IN RETROSPECT

Enjoy this free photography exhibit, Pride: In Retrospect, a curated gallery that will feature archival images from the early 1960s through the 2019s. The images will highlight historical moments leading up to the riots at Stonewall and the first Queer Liberation march of 1970. Explore the visual storytelling of Pride and the importance of the Stonewall uprising for the LGBTQIA+ community.
