From tens of thousands of daffodils throughout Newport and Bristol Counties to foodie festivals and the return of many of our much-anticipated annual favorites, it's the perfect opportunity to reawaken and renew.

Blithewold: The Gateway to Spring

Each April, tens of thousands of Daffodils trumpet the arrival of Spring at Blithewold Mansion in Bristol. The well-known daffodil display blankets the 33-acre seaside estate with more than fifty thousand daffodils. Details

 

NEWPORT NIGHT RUN

Where: Race begins at Rogers High School

Newport's only nighttime road race, this 5k starts weaves along some of Newport’s most tranquil roads. Funds raised benefit local public schools. Details.

 

Spring Lecture Series & Book Club

Where: Venues vary

Theme: The Aesthetic Movement and Oscar Wilde. Experience lectures and discussions related to the famed Irish poet and playwright, costume jewelry, architecture, interiors and garden design as well as garden tours, workshops and more. Details.

 

Newport Symposium: Great Collectors

Where: Throughout Newport

New England’s premier convening of national and international experts in the fine and decorative arts offers a stimulating weekend of lectures, social events and camaraderie centered around great collectors. Preeminent national and international presenters will explore the underpinnings of collecting and bring the fascinating stories of collectors to life. Details.

 

Newport Craft Beer Festival

When: April 27 - 28
Where: Lawn of Great Friends Meeting House

The 7th Annual Newport Craft Beer Festival returns for two days of taste-testing, live music and local flavors from area breweries and restaurants. Sample beers from all the breweries present and get a taste of the ‘local flavor’ from Newport restaurants offering their best plates while listening to live bands at each session. Details.

 

Volvo Ocean Race

When: May 8 - 20
Where: Fort Adams State Park

Considered the Sailing Capital of the World, Newport will showcase its maritime roots once again with the return of the Volvo Ocean Race – the world's most grueling ocean race, circumnavigating the planet and covering 45,000+ nautical miles. Featuring seven one-design, high-performing boats equipped with the latest technology, the race left Alicante, Spain in October and we can expect arrival in Newport (the only North American stopover) around May 10. Fort Adams State Park will offer a festive atmosphere for 13 fun-filled days with a Race Village featuring live music and entertainment, sailing lessons, a Globe theater that will make visitors feel like they are onboard one of the sleek racing boats and in the middle of all the action, food and drink gardens, thrilling in-port racing and the One Ocean Exploration Zone full of interactive exhibits highlighting ocean sustainability, marine science and life and sailing tips and tricks. Rail Explorers Returns

Where: Rail Explorers

“Ride the rails” on innovative pedal powered bike/vehicle hybrids which ride on railroad tracks along the edge of Narragansett Bay! All explorers leave at the same time with guides in the lead and last position, and each group enjoys the freedom of the outdoors and the magic of the railroad at their own pace and in their own space. The explorers are easy to ride and fun for all ages. 

 

RI Fiber Festival and Craft Fair

The Fiber Festival and Craft Fair is situated against the backdrop of Coggeshall's working 18th century farm, and features fiber artists and craftspeople from across the northeast who come together for a  celebration of art, traditional crafts, and community.

 

Bowen’s Wharf Newport Oyster Festival

Savor a variety of oysters from local growers, catch a glimpse of the shucking contest, meet with aquaculture educators on site, sip chilled champagne, enjoy live music and more at the annual Newport Oyster Festival. Details.

 

International Polo Series begins

The 2018 season’s 18-week run will be highlighted with team debuts, venue upgrades and new featured attractions, special engagements, après polo events and robust polo action from start to finish. 

 

British Motorcar Festival

WhereColt State Park

This festival includes a British marketplace with British-inspired products including hard to find car spares and motoring accessories plus British food and regalia, a car corral, town-wide scavenger hunt, a Concours d’Elegance, downtown street party with a concert, a British attire and ladies hat competition, a tailgate competition and more.
