A phenomenon that originated on the streets of Los Angeles around 2008, the food truck industry has since sprouted up in cities across the country from Portland to NYC. Serving as a culinary oasis for a population of hungry locavores in search of an inexpensive meal that also upholds gourmet standards, the food truck industry is continually on the rise, serving an estimated 2.5 billion people daily. Starting today, that trend makes its way to the City by the Sea for a six-month street-food haven.
Local food trucks (one per week) from across Rhode Island will station outside the award-winning Residence Inn by Marriott Newport/Middletown every other Wednesday from 6-9pm. Serving up everything from gourmet grilled cheese to authentic Chinese cuisine, they are sure to please the palate of every local foodie.
