The grand re-opening the Newport Skating Center presented by Alex and Ani will kick off Friday, December 9 at 5:00 PM at the Newport Yachting Center.

 

The official return of Newport's Winter Wonderland to downtown will begin Friday a grand opening and tree lighting event. Enjoy Santa and the elves, carolers, treats, the debut of a new concessions food truck, a Fork in the Road by Blackstone Caterers and DJ Nook spinning holiday classics.

The first public skate of the season will follow the event until 9 PM, depending on weather and ice conditions, with admission $7 for adults and $5 for kids 3 -12. An Adult Only Skate will be held from 9:00 - 11:00 PM.

Like last year, a full schedule of activities is planned for the rink this winter, including ALEX AND ANI #CARRYLIGHT Friday Nights where guest can share ways they ignite light and hope in the world with a video campaign, Family Fun Nights, Skates with Santa, Learn to Skate camp, and community outreach support programs with non-profit groups including a Toy Drive for Santa’s Workshop at the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center and more.

The Newport Skating Center, which first opened in 2000, features a 9,000 square foot skating surface large enough to accommodate up to 100 skaters at a time.  Skate rentals, hot beverages, comfort foods, lighting for night skating, regular admission discounts, free parking and viewing spaces for the public are also featured at the rink.

MLKCC Toy Drive

December 9 - 12.  Help the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center fill Santa’s Workshop with gifts for nearly 400 kids this holiday season. Toy donations accepted for children up to age 16 for Santa’s Workshop. Click here to see a list of Toy Suggestions. Drop off a new toy at the Newport Skating Center from December 9th through December 12th and get a buy one, get one free skating admission pass to be used in the month of January.

 

Newport Holiday Stroll

December 9 - 11. Enjoy $1 off skating admission with a receipt from a participating Stroll merchant. A Fork In The Road by Blackstone Caterers food truck, will also be providing: complimentary hot cocoa with a receipt from a participating merchant and a cookie decorating station for guests who purchase 1 or more items from the food truck.

 

Skate with Santa

Tuesday, December 13; 6:00 - 7:00 PM. Join Santa on the ice whether you are naughty or nice. Skate with the big man himself at the Newport Skating Center. Santa will be visiting with all the kids after he skates, so bring your camera to capture the perfect holiday photo under the stars.
