Summer is in full swing in our City by the Sea and this week's lineup of fantastic events proves it. The parties are getting started with the Caffeine and Cones summer party at Mokka Coffeehouse on Tuesday featuring complimentary ice cream samples, live entertainment, along with Moonrise Kingdom's fifth anniversary party at Jane Pickens on Wednesday. The good times continue through the weekend with Jamestown Arts Center's annual Summer Soiree offering live music, dancing and savory treats from local restaurants and caterers.

MONDAY, JUNE 26

CRAFT BURGER AND DRAFT BEER

NEWPORT GULLS YOUTH SUMMER CAMPS

When: 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Reoccurring weekly Monday-Thursday through July 20
Where: Portsmouth/Middletown/Newport Little League Fields
Admission: $90
Details: Camps will be held 4 days per week, 9:00 AM to Noon, at various locations on Aquidneck Island, including James Rooney Field (Portsmouth Little League), Aquidneck Elementary School (Middletown Little League), and Hogan Complex (Newport 5th Ward Little League). The cost of $90 includes 12 hours of camp instruction, a Gulls game ticket, and a Gulls t-shirt. The camps are for both boys and girls ages 6 to 12 and all skill levels. Players will be grouped based on age and ability. There will be a strong emphasis on teaching the fundamentals, with plenty of time for games and contests.

VNS/EDNA OPEN GOLF TOURNAMENT

Details: Visiting Nurse Services will host its 24th annual golf tournament fundraiser. All funds raised from this event will directly benefit the VNS Hospice program, a program for patients with a life-limiting illenss. Funds support the hospice team enabling them to give care with a focus on dignity, comfort and quality of life 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to those who are terminally ill.

 

 

TUESDAY, JUNE 27

ARTS AND CULTURAL ALLIANCE PRESENTS “TRANSITIONS” AT THE AUDRAIN AUTO MUSEUM

Details: The Arts and Cultural Alliance (ACA) of Newport County presents an Arts Behind the Scenes event featuring the Audrain Automobile Museum, "Transitions". MAPPING THE SPACES OF GLOBAL CONTEMPORARY ART

Details: This lecture travels along the routes and through the spaces of contemporary art, exploring how artists in the past two decades have mapped their position as both the subjects and the agents of globalization.This is the second lecture in the three-part series "What Is Contemporary Global Art?" and a wine and cheese reception will be held before each lecture at 5:30 PM.
