Ballard Park Halloween Movie Night Goers: let your voice be heard! This year's event, held on Saturday, October 17th, will feature two movies (one for kids, and one more thrilling option for adults), plus a Halloween costume parade and contest, free daffodils given away by Newport Daffodillion and a meet and greet with members of the Newport Fire Department. This year, you're invited to vote on which movies you'd like to see. Children-friendly Options: Beetlejuice, Book of Life, Casper, Hotel Transylvania, Monsters vs. Aliens and Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit. Take the survey here. Haunting options: Alien, Freddy vs. Jason, Friday the 13th, Poltergeist, Sleepy Hollow, The Birds, The Conjuring and Young Frankenstein. Take the survey here Voting closes this Friday, October 2nd and winners will be announced on Monday, October 5th. Peoples Credit Unions Halloween Movie Night is a free event. The quarry meadow will open at 5 pm for a meet and greet with members of the Newport Fire Department, followed by a costume parade for children at 5:30 pm. Celebrity judges including Senate President Teresa Paiva Weed, Councilor Kate Leonard, Newport Peoples Credit Union Newport Branch Manager Marie Everett and members of the Newport Fire Department will award prizes from The Newport Sweet Shoppe in several categories. The childrens movie will start at 6 pm and the second, scary movie around 7:30 pm. Movies will be shown in the quarry meadow which is best accessed through the Hazard Road entrance (use 1 Ocean Heights Road for GPS directions, the entrance is directly across the street). In the event of rain, the movies will be shown on October 24th. Ballard Park is located directly across from Rogers High School on Wickham Road in Newport.
