At the beginning of the season, we brought you this handy guide to farmers markets and farm stands in and around Newport, and we're hoping you got your hands on some local, fresh goodies. Now, we want you to get your hands dirty. Next on our list of summertime experiences: pick-your-own orchards. From sweet blueberries to tasty raspberries, these pick-your-own orchards have the sweet treats you crave, ripe for the pickin' straight through Autumn.

 

 

SWEET BERRY FARM

Located in Middletown, Sweet Berry Farm sits on 100 acres of preserved farmland. From strawberries in the summer to pumpkins come fall and Christmas trees to deck your halls, Sweet Berry is a hub for all things locally grown. Bonus: they have a cafe on property that serves up savory snacks and sweet treats, plus a selection of artisan cheeses, smoked meats and unique gifts. We call that an experience.

Quonset View Farm has been in business for over 100 years offering strawberries, pumpkins & potatoes.

Founded in 1997, Young Family Farm is a 300 acre farm run in quaint Little Compton.

BOUGHS & BERRY FARM

If you're a blueberry lover, this 400-year-old farmland is for you. The Boughs & Berries Farm offers 1 acre of landed dedicated to blueberries.

SAVE FOR LATER

These farms and orchards don't currently have any summer fruit for the picking, but keep them on the back burner for the perfect Autumn day-date.

 

 
ROCKY BROOK ORCHARD

This family-run orchard in Newport offers a variety of pick-your-own fruit options, including 60 varieties of apples in the fall. 

  • Apples & Peaches: Late September - October
  • Pears: Mid-September - October
