Join the Aquidneck Land Trust for a bird banding demonstration at Bailey Brook with ecology professor Jim Chace and his students of Salve Regina University. Bailey Brook is a primary source of drinking water for Middletown and Newport residents. It also serves as a habitat for several migratory bird species. The Sweet Flag property buffers Bailey Brook, and was protected by ALT in 2006. Jim and his students will be catching and banding migrant and resident songbird species at the Sweet Flag Preserve as part of their research on the property over several years of study. Have you ever seen birds being banded? Here’s your chance!
