MOVIES ON THE ROCKS: Star Wars Rogue One

The 2016 epic space opera is the first installment of the Star Wars Anthology series set immediately before the events of the original Star Wars. Rogue One follows a group of rebels on a mission to steal the plans for the Death Star, the Galactic Empire’s superweapon. Rated PG-13; 133 minutes
The 12th Annual MOVIES ON THE ROCKS wraps up with a screening of Star Wars Rogue One and a short provided by the Rhode Island International Film Festival on Wednesday, August 23rd at dusk (8 pm) in the quarry meadow of Ballard Park.
Movies begin at dusk (8:00 PM) in Ballard Park’s quarry meadow which will be open at 6:30 PM for blankets and picnicking. Please follow the “carry it in, carry it out” philosophy. Seating is on the grass- bring a blanket or lawn chair. In the event of rain movies will be shown on the following night. Like regular movie theaters, smoking is prohibited.

Seating is on the grass- bring a blanket or lawn chair and arrive 15 minutes prior to the screening to ensure a place to park and time to make your way down to the quarry meadow. Use Hazard Road entrance. Rain date is August 24th.
Ballard Park is a nature preserve located at the corner of Wickham and Hazard Roads in Newport. Those interested in attending should wear sturdy shoes as there is rugged terrain and bring a flashlight to use upon exiting. Allow fifteen minutes to park and make your way into the quarry meadow as the site for the movies is a considerable distance from the road. Enter at 21 Hazard Road entrance.
