MADE IN WARREN JOINS WARREN WALKABOUT
ON OCTOBER 20

Made in Warren, the nonprofit artists' cooperative, will join in the Warren Walkabout, the annual festival showcasing artisan's workshops, art studios, eateries, and boutiques, as well as the town's historic architecture and working waterfront.

The MIW gallery, located at 476 Main St. (Rt. 114) in Warren, will be open on Sunday, October 20 from noon to 5:00PM during the something-for-everyone family event. Children are especially welcome. MIW will provide youngsters with pumpkins and blade-free decorating implements, as well as chalk for budding sidewalk artists.

The work of five coop members will be featured and the makers will be available to talk about their work or demonstrate technique:

• Kristin Aylward of Providence fashions handmade artisan jewelry in sterling silver and copper.

• Wayne Fuerst of Westport creates functional wheel-made pottery and flower petal handmade papers.

• Erika Houghton of Attleboro is a ceramic sculptor of Raku-fired planters and humorous piggy banks.

• Wendy Overly of Warren is a textile artist with a contemporary eye whose work includes wall hangings, "painted" with fabric and fusible web.

• Bridget Snow of Warwick paints from life. Her medium is oil on canvas using the alla prima technique.

Singer-songwriter Otis Read, whose performances encompass folk, country, and Americana genres, will add a musical dimension at MIW during the walkabout.

This year, walkabout visitors who prefer to cool their heels and save their soles can travel between venues by pedicab or by the free trolley.

The Made in Warren artists' cooperative, a winner of RI Monthly magazine's "Best of RI" and the Providence Journal's "Reader's Choice" awards, offers unique works of art as well as fine handcrafted gifts. As a "locally made" showcase and emporium, all purchases are free of sales tax
