Discover Newport, the official destination marketing organization for Newport and Bristol Counties, Rhode Island, has appointed two new members to its Board of Directors in accordance to the organization’s governing bylaws.

Geremie Callaghan will represent restaurants throughout Newport and Bristol Counties on the board. Callaghan, a Newport native, has co-owned Fluke Newport, an award-winning, local seafood-driven restaurant on Bowen’s Wharf, with her husband Jeff since 2007. She also serves on Discover Newport’s Restaurant Week Advisory Board.
Elizabeth Buckley will represent Barrington, the coastal community she has called home for the past five years. Buckley has more than two decades of experience in destination management and related industry, including convention sales, hotel management, hospitality business ownership and product/partnership development. Notably, she was the founder of the Federal Hill Stroll in Providence, now in its 20th year.

“I am very pleased to welcome Geremie and Elizabeth to our board. Both women are demonstrated leaders with tremendous talent who will bring a fresh perspective and constructive insight to our organization,” said Evan Smith, president and CEO of Discover Newport. “With equally impressive, proven track records, Discover Newport will undoubtedly benefit from their extensive experience at this exciting time in our destination’s history.”

The Discover Newport Board of Directors is comprised of 18 members with representation from the nine municipalities within Newport and Bristol Counties and five industry-specific appointments.
