Alex Hurd assumes new position within the organization.
Newport (R.I.) April 2, 2015 – Alex Hurd has been appointed the newest Destination Expert at Discover Newport, the official destination marketing organization for Newport and Bristol Counties, Rhode Island. Hurd joined Discover Newport in January, 2011 as a Group Tour Manager. During that time he worked in tandem with the motorcoach travel industry spearheading successful campaigns, working with the City of Newport to designate motorcoach drop-off points, and developing unique itineraries for group visitors.
Hurd will now be responsible for assisting the corporate and association markets in a sales capacity as one of three Destination Experts. Hurd will manage the regions consisting of Washington DC, Virginia, Maryland, Connecticut, and west of Route 95 in Massachusetts. His extensive knowledge of Newport will be beneficial to his success as a Destination Expert.

Hurd graduated from Bridgewater State University with a Bachelor of Science and Business Management degree. His new position at Discover Newport will be acting as a liaison between meeting planners and the destination while increasing market visibility through direct sales, client events, tradeshows, sales calls, familiarization tours and site inspections.
