Construction on both The Hammetts Wharf Hotel and The Brenton Hotel, both on Newport’s waterfront, is an impressive sight to see as these two new properties (84 rooms and 57 rooms, respectively) are sprinting toward their projected spring 2020 openings.
The Howard Johnson is in the midst of a major renovation of their 115 guestrooms with a contemporary coastal design to complement the new look and feel of the hotel's lobby and meeting spaces. Rooms are expected to be completed by spring 2020. The property has been nationally recognized by the Howard Johnson Brand as an award-winning hotel for 10 years straight and has earned the Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor for the past 10 years. It has been owned by the same family for 50 years.
Currently open as The Mainstay, The Wayfinder Hotel will debut in the spring of 2020 with its 197 oversized guest rooms and 17 suites (with a separate sitting area and wet bar) revealing a floor to ceiling renovation designed by Reunion Goods & Services. Dining and entertainment will include a new full-service restaurant under the leadership that also owns popular Newport restaurants Mission, TSK and Winner Winner; an extensive in-room dining menu, a solarium serving a full menu and cocktails, and live music and dining poolside.
