It seems like there's a national holiday for literally every interest, from tacos and tequila to "penguin awareness" and a National Limerick Day. And while I'm not one to subscribe to these marketing ploys, here's one I can definitely get behind: National Dog Day.

On August 26, celebrate all the love and lessons learned that your four-legged friends have brought into your life. As Forbes reports, there's actually plenty that dogs can teach us about life and even leadership. And what better way to show your pup you care than to take them with you on your next adventure? After all, a family trip isn't quite the same without the whole family—four-legged members included.

So instead of putting your pooch up in a cold and lonesome kennel—or attempting to sneak them into a hotel, hoping no one hears a bark—turn to these fantastic properties where you and your dog will both be pampered.
