Newport Restaurant Week returns March 27th through April 7th, 2017, with approximately 50 restaurants expected to participate throughout Newport and Bristol counties. This spring, diners can savor three-course, prix fixe lunch menus for $16 and three-course, prix fixe dinner offerings for $35 throughout the expanded 12-day event.

This year, Discover Newport will be kicking off restaurant week on a Monday instead of a traditional Friday launch. “We survey chefs and restaurateurs after every rendition of restaurant week regarding multiple facets of their experiences, from casual observations to suggestions that may improve the program,” explains Brittany Lauro, who manages Newport Restaurant Week at Discover Newport. “The way the calendar falls this year, the selected dates worked best for the majority of the restaurateurs, so we were happy to accommodate them with this new schedule.” In the past, the event has been a 10-day affair.

“We’ve been organizing Newport Restaurant Week for more than a decade and with each edition, there’s always something new and exciting to savor due to the extraordinary culinary talent throughout our destination,” said Evan Smith, president and CEO of Discover Newport. “It always fascinates me how our coastal city, which predates America itself, consistently rethinks and reinvents, especially our chefs and restaurateurs.”

Participating restaurants are added to DiscoverNewportRestaurantWeek.org within 24 hours of signing up and their menus are added within 24 hours of receipt. Discover Newport highly encourages all participating restaurants to submit their lunch and/or dinner menus as early as possible so diners can get a comprehensive scope of all the delectable dishes and plan accordingly.

The event’s “Behind the Apron,” video series, featuring chef interviews and a behind-the-scenes look at the talent leading many of our region’s favorite restaurants and hidden gems, will grow with additional episodes on DiscoverNewportRestaurantWeek.org. Restaurant Week updates will be posted across the organization’s social media channels including Facebook and Instagram along with engaging content on Snapchat, Instagram Stories, Pinterest and Twitter.

Diners, chefs and restaurateurs can continue the conversation about the event by using the hashtag #NPTRestaurantWeek on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and for an ongoing, real-time index of user observations and images, including dining, throughout our destination, users can include #NPTrightnow.

Newport Restaurant Week is proudly sponsored by Kenwood Vineyards, Open Table, Rhode Island Seafood and Discover Newport.

ABOUT NEWPORT RESTAURANT WEEK

Newport Restaurant Week was established in 2006 as an annual event to encourage both residents and visitors to Newport and Bristol counties to experience the vast culinary talent in our destination at an affordable price. The event’s mission is to stimulate local business not only at restaurants but at retail and lodging partners as well. In 2008, Newport Restaurant Week expanded to a bi-annual event; one taking place in early spring and the other in late fall. Restaurateurs often create menus that celebrate seasonal ingredients and promote local food and wine purveyors. Many offer vegetarian and gluten-free alternatives to patrons with food allergies or special dietary requirements.
