Newport Restaurant Week Returns

Restaurants, special events and culinary lodging packages mark the bi-annual affair.

Newport (R.I.) March 29, 2016 – You’ve come a long way, baby! Newport Restaurant Week returns April 1-10, 2016, marking a decade of culinary delights with nearly 50 participating restaurants throughout Newport and Bristol counties. During the 10-day affair, diners can savor three-course, prix fixe lunch menus for $16 and three-course, prix fixe dinner offerings for $35.

“Over the past ten years we have watched Newport Restaurant Week grow by leaps and bounds,” said Evan Smith, president and CEO of Discover Newport. “Today, the event has become one of the most anticipated—and delicious—throughout our destination.”

The newly-designed website, DiscoverNewportRestaurantWeek.org, provides the most up-to-the-minute list of participating restaurants and their respective menus. In addition, gourmands can find all new “Special Foodie Offers” on the site including culinary-themed lodging packages and discounts on local food tours offered by Newport Food Tours and Rhode Island Red Food Tours. Special food and wine events around Newport Restaurant Week include a wine and cheese pairing, The Chef's Table Dinner Series at Blithewold Mansion, Gardens and Arboretum in Bristol featuring Chef Matt Gennuso of Chez Pascal and more.

Newport Restaurant Week has once again partnered with Rhode Island Seafood, a collaborative formed by the RI Department of Environmental Management (DEM) to support local fishermen and related small businesses and to increase awareness and consumption by the public of locally fished species. The RI Seafood seal guarantees that a menu item’s seafood was landed right here in Rhode Island waters.

Discover Newport’s social networks will continue real time conversation about the event and we encourage users to include #NPTRestaurantWeek for Newport Restaurant Week-related posts on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Our newly introduced hashtag, #LoveYourNewport, will be an ongoing index of user observations and images, including dining, throughout our destination.

Newport Restaurant Week is proudly sponsored by Kenwood Vineyards, OpenTable.com, Rhode Island Seafood and Discover Newport.

ABOUT NEWPORT RESTAURANT WEEK

Newport Restaurant Week was established in 2006 as an annual event to encourage both residents and visitors to Newport and Bristol counties to experience the vast culinary talent in our destination at an affordable price. The event’s mission is to stimulate local business not only at restaurants but at retail and lodging partners as well. In 2008, Newport Restaurant Week expanded to a bi-annual event; one taking place in early spring and the other in late fall. Restaurateurs often create menus that celebrate seasonal ingredients and promote local food and wine purveyors. Many offer vegetarian and gluten-free alternatives to patrons with food allergies or special dietary requirements.
