Summer music festivals celebrate the best elements of the season, with some of the most popular artists playing in the great outdoors in fabulous destinations across the country. And this year's lineup includes a wide range of big names, with Lorde, Charli XCX, The Strokes, Teddy Swims, and LCD Soundsystem hitting multiple festivals.
“There’s something almost cathartic about summer music festivals,” Newport Folk Festival executive producer Jay Sweet told Travel + Leisure about the communal experience. “You’re dancing in a field for eight hours with strangers who feel like family. It’s a rebirth, a rite of passage. Festivals are one of the last truly shared experiences we have—everyone hearing the same thing at the same time. That’s increasingly rare, and increasingly precious.”
