Either cross the bridge from Newport or hop on a seasonal ferry and get ready to be charmed.
Perhaps the most scenic way to get to Jamestown, the Jamestown Newport Ferry, takes you directly from multiple points in Newport, to Jamestown seasonally from mid-May through mid-October.
Take in the sights, sounds and salt water air as you venture across Newport Harbor. Be sure to check the schedule (and weather) in advance!
Insider Tip: If you have the time, and the ferry schedule permits, for a small additional fee you can get off at Rose Island on your way to/from Jamestown.
Arguably some of the best views in Jamestown can be found at the quaint, but iconic, East Ferry Deli.
Overlooking Narragansett Bay and the Newport Bridge, and known to be ‘the place’ where the community connects, pull up an outdoor chair, pop up an umbrella, grab a cup of coffee and bite to eat and take in the morning.
Insider Tip: If you take the Jamestown Newport Ferry, East Ferry Deli is conveniently located right across the street. If you come by car, parking can be found along Canonicus Ave, Narragansett Ave, and in the East Ferry parking lot.

This family owned and oh so friendly farm produces grass fed and pasture raised meats and eggs. And some of the cutest farm dogs and kitties around, not to mention the expansive pastoral vistas that will make you think you’re in the English countryside.
Think: fresh cinnamon sugar donuts served warm, cold or hot cider, and for those holding onto summer, a cold cider slushy. The aroma of cider and donuts alone will knock you on your feet. Don't miss this pop-up stand at Windmist Farm, open Friday - Sunday (Monday holidays too) from Labor Day through Thanksgiving.
Clancy Design Studios is a world of its own.
This hand blown glass studio is a place of color and chemistry, fire and steel, and we’re pretty sure a bit of pure magic. Owned by Dave and Jennifer Clancy for over 30 years, this charismatic duo’s studio is a true hidden gem. Entering the studio, you are immersed in the passion of their art.
Likely with reggae music playing in the background, and the pastoral views of Jamestown’s historic windmill adjacent to their property, this is one of the most vibiest places on the island. The warm glow from the kilns line one wall, while juxtaposed, the other is lined with delicate and colorful bursts of their glass art—many for purchase.
Book a lesson, organize a group outing, or visit during their open studio hours, be sure to check the website before going.
Insider Tip: Combo your visit to Clancy Design Studios with a visit to the historic Jamestown windmill adjacent to their property. Built in 1787 and in operation until 1896, the windmill stands high on the center of the island with some epic photo ops of the Newport Bridge.
