The Christmas spirit is taking over on our Classic Coast as we dive into the holiday season and we have a total of zero complaints. From Polar Express pajama story time and a lighting of one of our favorite historic lighthouses complete with hot chocolate and carolers to starlit strolls and holiday lantern tours, nestle up at these 7 cozy events for a dose of holiday cheer.

🎄 CAROLING ON BROADWAY

Where: Starting at the Colony House
Admission: Free

Join local musician Christopher Carbone, Thompson Middle School chorus and OBNA in a caroling along Broadway. All are welcome to participate.

 

POLAR EXPRESS PAJAMA STORY TIME

When: Friday, December 7; 7:00 - 8:00 PM
Where: Barnes & Noble, 1211 West Main Road, Middletown
Admission: Free; Reservations required

Nestle into your favorite pair of cozy PJs and listen to the magical story of a little boy who visits the North Pole. After story time, enjoy hot cocoa, cookies and a visit from a special guest.

 

MAKING SPIRITS BRIGHT: COCKTAIL + TRUFFLE MAKING CLASS

When: Thursday, December 6; 6:00 - 7:30 PM
Where: Newport Vineyards

Enjoy an evening with Willa from Little Bitte Artisanal Cocktails and our Executive Chef Andy Teixeira as they take guests on a cocktail-creating and truffle-making journey. Receive $5 off a purchase of $25 or more in the Marketplace that evening only.

 

STARLIT STROLLS

When: Thursdays, November 29 - December 27; 5:00 PM
Where: Blithewold Mansion, Gardens & Arboretum
Admission: Free with regular admission

Enjoy an illuminated stroll along the winding paths of Blithewold’s enclosed garden. Take in the wonder of trees and paths that twinkle, sparkle and glow. A scavenger hunt will offer you the opportunity to take a closer look at the handcrafted lanterns and ornaments that light your way through this delightful garden promenade. All ages welcome.

 

LIGHTING OF THE LIGHTHOUSE

When: Saturday, November 24; 5:30 - 8:30 PM

Head over to Gurney's as they light the historic Goat Island Lighthouse alongside carolers, spiked cider, live music at the resort’s Regent Cocktail Club and of course, undisturbed views of the famed Newport Bridge. 

 

HOLIDAY LANTERN TOUR

When: Fridays+ Saturdays, November 23 - December 22 ; 4:00 PM
Where: Newport Historical Society, 82 Touro Street
Admission: $15 adults, $5 children 5 - 12

Hear the history of early American holiday traditions on an evening walk. Learn how Newporters did, or didn’t, observe the holidays.

 

FRIDAY NIGHT SPARKLE

Stroll through Blithewold’s illuminated gardens and greenhouse and enjoy singing with the carolers alongside free hot cocoa and s’mores around a roaring bonfire in Blithewold’s Enclosed Garden. S’mores kits are 1 for $2, and 3 for $5 (a part of the proceeds benefits the Boy Scouts).
