Cultural Survival celebrates 35 years of International Indigenous Arts Bazaars this summer, holding its 17th annual Tiverton event on July 29 - 30. Malian drummer, educator, and performer Sidy Maiga will play with his band, Sidy Maiga and Afrimanding, bringing West African rhythms that have made a name from him throughout the Providence and Boston areas.
For 35 years, the Cultural Survival Bazaar has helped build cross-cultural community and understanding through art and music, while developing a market for thousands of artists spanning six continents and more than sixty countries.
This July, the variety of artists and vendors will represent dozens of indigenous communities from Nepal, India, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Guatemala, Peru, Haiti, China, Uzbekistan, the West Bank, North America, and more. All-day concerts and unique art bring a burst of color to the Four Corners area and encourage conversation among people from various backgrounds.
