Santa Claus is coming through town this month! With a little assistance from the Newport Fire & Police Departments, Santa will be touring the neighborhoods in Newport on his sleigh on designated nights from 6-8 pm. Planned routes are as follows, courtesy of the Newport RI Fire Department Facebook:
- Tuesday, December 8 The North end of the City West of Broadway: Santa will travel from Touro St. to One Mile Corner, from Broadway to JT Connell Highway & Farewell St. These neighborhoods include Dr. Marcus Wheatland Blvd, Van Zandt Ave, Bedlow Ave. and Newport Heights
- Thursday, December 10 The North end of the City East of Broadway& Spring St.: Santa will travel from Memorial Blvd North to the Middletown line. These neighborhoods include Kay Street, Vernon Ave, Bliss Rd & Eustis Ave.
- Tuesday, December 15 The South end of the City West of Spring St. to Fort Adams and Touro St. to Harrison Ave.: These neighborhoods include Spring St. to Thames St. and the historic 5th Ward.
- Thursday, December 17 The Southeast end of the City & the Point section: He will travel East of Spring St. to Bellevue Ave. and Annanadale Rd and from Memorial Blvd to Ocean Ave. Also, Santa will be visiting the Point section, Bayside Village & Rolling Green neighborhoods.
A special note from the Newport Fire Department:
Parents, to be safe please make sure that your children are accompanied and that they greet Santa from the sidewalk and do not enter the roadway. Santa cant wait to see you all, but does not want any of the Citys children to get hurt. Keep your eyes and ears open for Santas approach on the dates listed for your area.
