🎄 New England's Largest Gingerbread Lighthouse

When: Through January 1; Saturday - Thursday: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM; Fridays: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Where: Newport Visitor Center
Admission: Free
Details: This 16-foot tall lighthouse made of 350 pounds of gingerbread and more than 2,400 pieces of candy was created by the culinary staff at the Newport Marriott in conjunction with Discover Newport. It stands tall in the Newport Visitor Center and is free to view, but visitors are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to fill the sleigh for local community food pantries. 

 

ICE SKATING AT NEWPORT SKATING CENTER

When: Daily through February
Where: Newport Skating Center, 4 Commercial Wharf
Admission: Adults, $7, Seniors & children 3-12: $5, children under 3: Free
Details: The Newport Skating Center features a 9,000 square foot skating surface large enough to accommodate up to 100 skaters at a time. Enjoy skate rentals, hot beverages, comfort foods, lighting for night skating, regular admission discounts, free parking and more.

      

CHILDREN'S HOLIDAY TEA

When: Recurring weekly on Monday; 4:00 - 6:00 PM
WhereBlithewold Mansion, Gardens & Arboretum
Admission: $37 Adults, $29 Children
Details: Tour the beautifully decorated mansion and pose for photos with Santa in front of the elegant eighteen-foot Christmas tree. Then gather at a private table in the Dining Room to enjoy tea, hot chocolate, finger sandwiches, and dessert, all served in the style of yesteryear, including elegant china tableware.

 

CHRISTMAS COOKIE DECORATING

When: Recurring weekly on Sunday through December; 2:00 - 4:00 PM

WINTER ART CLASSES FOR KIDS

When: Recurring weekly on Saturday through December 16; 9:30 - 11:00 AM
Where: Linden Place Mansion
Admission: $75 per student. Linden Place members receive a $20 discount.
Details: This course is designed for young artists (ages 8 - 11) who like to do a variety of art activities. Students will unleash their creativity and make fascinating discoveries while exploring the 200-year old historical mansion, grounds, and carriage house. Students will learn to draw and paint in a beautiful, historic setting using a variety of materials while surrounded by exquisite artifacts and history. Taught by a professional artist and certified teacher, activities and themes include portraits, landscapes, weaving and more!

DICKENS CHRISTMAS TRAIN

Details: Step back in time and immerse yourself in the classic tale of humbuggery, ghosts, and redemption. This interactive retelling of the Charles Dickens classic “A Christmas Carol” by the Marley Bridges Theatre Company is an evening of music, laughter, food, and spirits which is certain to cure even the worst “Scrooge.”

Details: The JPT is screening ELF starring Will Ferrell alongside Hollywood movie royalty James Caan.  This annual event benefits the MLK Community Center which offers hunger services for local families in need of assistance, especially around the holidays.
