Welcome to Portsmouth.

The second-oldest municipality in Rhode Island is still boasting its core roots of farming, fishing and boat-building, while adding in some modern day entertainment, like a brewery, winery, rail exploring (more on that later), memorable eats and killer coastal views.

It’s time to slow down a little, browse vintage cars, ride the rails, perhaps even pull up an Adirondack chair and grab a glass, because it’s five o’clock somewhere, right?

See what we did there? Read below to find out.

Get Outdoors

Explore a serene beach, get lost in a corn maze, pick pumpkins overlooking Narragansett Bay or enjoy a morning picnic in a grove.

Escobar Farm Corn Maze

Back to Top of List

Tucked behind East Main Road, but a world away is Escobar Farm Corn Maze. A larger than life pumpkin figure will greet you as you pull down the dirt road with picturesque farm vistas in the distance.

As for the corn maze, it can be challenging, bring a buddy and charged phone, or find your way to the "lookout" point for a hint or two. For families with littles, pull your lil' pumpkins around on available wagons as you explore the maze and farm.

Insider's Tip: Pick-your-own pumpkins and weekend hayrides available through November.

Ragged Island

Back to Top of List

Oh Ragged Island, how we love thee. Where do we even begin?

A place that take the term beer garden to a whole new meaning. Paying homage to the decades of history before, this garden nursery turned brewery, with plants lining the floors, walls and ceilings (not exaggerating).

Make your way through the plants to the expansive lawn or large decks overlooking their farm property, highlighting Portsmouth’s history of farming. Fun Fact: Ragged still operates as a working farm with chickens, goats and more. Grab a seat on one of their signature orange Adirondack chairs that dot their lawn, or meander through their farm setting, but please do not feed the animals human food (or beer).

Don't miss their live music and trivia nights, complete with food trucks and the best farm brewery vibes around.
