It's no secret that Newport's beaches are a hot spot for swimming come summer months. But when you're looking for something a little more chill and a little less sandy, there's an alternative: hotel pools. Full-service offerings, exclusive cabanas and a classic coastal atmosphere sans the sand make these top hotel pools a covetable spot for sun-basking.

You need to be a hotel guest if you want to take a dip in many of these pools, but some welcome non-guests (for a fee) who want to soak up the atmosphere.

Newport Harbor Island Resort

If you love the sea, this is your nautical nirvana. An outdoor waterfront saltwater pool, private sun deck, plush lounge chairs and cabanas for rent overlooking the bay complete your experience at Newport Harbor Island Resort on Goat Island. Sit back and enjoy full service with offerings from the hotel's outdoor bar. 

Access:

The pool and cabana rentals are open to hotel and marina guests only. 

THE VANDERBILT

This private mansion turned luxury boutique hotel was once owned by Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilt, scion of the acclaimed Vanderbilt family. The roof deck offers one of the most stunning views in town, while the garden terrace provides the coveted feeling of being secluded while remaining in the center of downtown. 

For an ideal respite, make your way to the outdoor pool situated in the garden terrace where you can relax the afternoon away alternating between refreshing dips and lounging in the sun. During the cooler months, enjoy the property's indoor heated pool adjacent to the spa and fitness center, offering a tranquil oasis for your exercise routine or simply a moment of peace.

Access to both the indoor and outdoor pool is exclusive for hotel guests. 

HOTEL VIKING

A member of Historic Hotels of America, Hotel Viking opened its Bellevue Avenue doors to guests in 1926. Tradition is alive and well here, evident in the original brass letterbox stationed in the lobby, while also complimented by a blend of modern amenities, classic finishings and elevated touches (hint: pillow-top mattresses and Egyptian cotton linens.) 

The indoor pool might seem extra sparkly, and that's because it's brand new. Settle into one of three spacious cabanas available by reservation, sit back and enjoy the peace and quiet.

The pool is open to hotel guests and those with a fitness membership only. 

NEWPORT MARRIOTT

Located along Newport's waterfront, the Newport Marriott offers an upscale overnight stay within walking distance to Newport's attractions. Drop your bags and make your way down to Skiff Bar, the hotel's onsite bar with plush outdoor seating overlooking the harbor, for light bites and cocktails. When it's time to unwind, the indoor heated pool with adjacent sun deck is your spot.

EAST ISLAND RESERVE HOTEL

Welcome to East Island Reserve Hotel where the comforts of home meet the amenities of a hotel. Located adjacent to Newport Vineyards, these private cottages, suites and rooms offer fully equipped kitchens, living rooms, spa-like bathrooms and in some cases your own private balcony. Their onsite saltwater swimming pool is open seasonally and provides a secluded spot to lounge and unwind.

NEWPORT HARBOR HOTEL

Set among cobblestone paths on iconic America's Cup Avenue you'll find Newport Harbor Hotel. After a day of exploring adjacent Bowen's Wharf and the shops on neighboring Thames Street, a sunset on the harbor is in order. Settle into one of the Adirondack chairs outside your room and soak up a famed Newport sunset. 

When nothing but the pool will do, make your way to the hotel's large, indoor heated saltwater pool. In the warmer months, relax on the seasonal sun deck overlooking the marina.

Access:

Daily Pool Passes are available for purchase for outside guests Monday - Thursday only. Access is dependent on capacity and granted at the discretion of the front desk staff.

NEWPORT BEACH HOTEL AND SUITES

Newport Beach Hotel and Suites is located steps from Easton's Beach just over the Middletown line. Oceanfront views, coastal ambiance and custom-designed furniture accompany your visit at this recently renovated hotel. Looking for a luxurious experience? WELLINGTON RESORT

Welcome to your home away from home at Wellington Resort in Newport.
