It's no secret that Newport's beaches are a hot spot for swimming come summer months. But when you're looking for something a little more chill and a little less sandy, there's an alternative: hotel pools. Full-service offerings, exclusive cabanas and a classic coastal atmosphere sans the sand make these top hotel pools a covetable spot for sun-basking.

You need to be a hotel guest if you want to take a dip in many of these pools, but some welcome non-guests (for a fee) who want to soak up the atmosphere.

When you're ready, we can't wait to welcome you back to The Classic Coast. Rest assured, the safety and well-being of both visitors and locals remains our top priority. The mask mandate requiring face coverings in Rhode Island has been lifted, however local businesses may ask you to wear a mask when visiting their establishments. Please be prepared for individual business mask policies. Additionally, shops, attractions and tours are monitoring the number of guests at any given time and may ask you to socially distance to enter.

All we ask when you land on these shores is that you play your part in keeping everyone safe. Please be kind, adhere to guidelines and maintain social distancing.

Cool and quirky, The Wayfinder Hotel speaks to those looking for a Newport experience out of the ordinary. Situated off the beaten path in Newport's north end, this 197-room boutique hotel was created by a group of local chefs, bartenders, artists, designers, and entrepreneurs who banded together to create a fresh take on the traditional Newport hotel experience.

The outdoor pool space offers up full service, chill vibes and poolside games while artfully reflecting the essence of being in Newport with a hand-painted motif of waves by Rhode Island based artist Sean Spellman. Kick your feet up in one of the vibrant seating areas under a canopy of Edison bulb string lights and order up a light bite from the Poolshack like a poke bowl, ceviche, or a snack from the hotel's onsite restaurant, Nomi Park

The pool is open to hotel guests. Non-guests must make a reservation through Nomi Park and are required to meet a minimum food + beverage spend of $75.

If you love the sea, this is your nautical nirvana. An outdoor waterfront saltwater pool, private sun deck, plush lounge chairs and cabanas for rent overlooking the bay complete your experience at Gurney's Newport Resort & Marina on Goat Island. Sit back and enjoy full service with offerings from the hotel's Pineapple Club. On the weekends, catch the guest DJ from 5 - 11pm.

The pool and cabana rentals are open to hotel and marina guests only.

Access to both the indoor and outdoor pool is exclusive for hotel guests.

A member of Historic Hotels of America, Hotel Viking opened its Bellevue Avenue doors to guests in 1926. Tradition is alive and well here, evident in the original brass letterbox stationed in the lobby, while also complimented by a blend of modern amenities, classic finishings and elevated touches (hint: pillow-top mattresses and Egyptian cotton linens.)

The indoor pool might seem extra sparkly, and that's because it's brand new. Settle into one of three spacious cabanas available by reservation, sit back and enjoy the peace and quiet.

The pool is open to hotel guests and those with a fitness membership only.
