Come June, this charming coastal enclave transforms into an electric paradise brimming with family-friendly events, outdoor festivals and exciting happenings. Some of our favorite annual events return this month, like the International Polo Series every Saturday through September at Glen Farm in Portsmouth; the Newport Gulls games at historic Cardines Field; Newport Pride, the Newport Flower Show and so many more.

Every year, Newport Pride takes place in June throughout Newport, celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community while promoting love, acceptance, inclusivity and diversity. This year, start the celebration off with a flag raising at city hall, access deals all month long throughout the Newport area with a Pride pin, and Pride Weekend returns June 23 - 25 with a full line-up of exciting events and experiences.

Watch the home team, USA/Newport, take on challengers from around the world and major U.S. cities in one of the most exciting spectator sports in the world. Matches are held every Saturday, June – Sept., at Newport Polo, home of America’s First Polo Club. Festivities include Opening and Closing ceremonies, half-time Divot Stomp, Player’s Salute, Trophy Presentation, Après Polo Lounge, fan prizes, and other special weekly features fieldside.
Matches start at 5PM. Expert commentary and Jumbotron live coverage explain the nuances of the game. Reserved Pavilion tables and Tailgate picnic spaces are sold in advance online, and Lawn Seating available online and at the entry gates. Newport Flower Show offers a variety of special events, expert guest speakers, beautiful floral designs, impressive horticulture exhibits and more. Meander stunning garden displays alongside unique shopping opportunities and opulent floral designs throughout the grounds of Marble House. The theme 2023: The Grand Tour.
Ca' del Bosco and The Chanler have come together for an enchanting collaboration showcasing Italian renaissance charm and seaside beauty.
Enjoy a curated selection of internationally renowned Franciacorta sparkling wines are presented at The Chanler's lush meadow lawn, perfect for an afternoon spent curled up on an Adirondack chair, taking in the view, and sipping the decadent selection of wine.
The inaugural Newport Rare Book Fair will take place between June 2nd and 4th in the heart of Newport. It will bring over 20 rare book dealers from across the United States to exhibit their books and ephemera. Admission is free to the public.
Meet the amazing farm animal rescues of West Place Animal Sanctuary in Tiverton!
Visit West Place Animal Sanctuary for the first public visitors weekend of the year Choose from 30 interactive and guided tours of the 8-acre property and get up close and personal with the farm animals rescued from cruelty, abuse, and neglect. Positioned in the heart of downtown Newport, historic Cardines Field is home to the classic wooden-bat, summer collegiate baseball team the Newport Gulls. This championship team plays home games on (most) Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays throughout the months of June and July.
Picture it: ballpark treats, special appearances from mascot Gully, and a classic game of America's pastime at one of the oldest baseball stadiums in the country. Classic.
The 11th annual 10 Miler, benefiting the Fort Adams Trust and the Boys and Girls Club of Newport County returns at 7:30 AM on June 4, 2023
The course prominently features Newport’s scenic coastal views and ends with a truly unique finish as participants enter Fort Adams through the north gate and finish on the parade field. Enjoy post-race snacks and a beer garden with local brewery Ragged Island. We can't wait to see you there!
The Bristol Independence Rhode Race will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023. In partnership with the Bristol Fourth of July Committee, the half marathon will follow the beautiful downtown streets of America’s quintessential community when it is decked out in its finest – during the Oldest 4th of July Celebration in America.
The course includes incredible historic homes, a town common and the America’s Cup Museum before heading out along the scenic coastline, through Roger Williams University and finishing along the water at Independence Park.
Spread out the picnic, soak up the warmth of the summer sun over Narragansett Bay, and enjoy a variety of musical performances by local musicians. Wednesday nights at Blithewold are the perfect way to enjoy summer with friends and family!
“The Blue & You” Summer Speaker Series will provide information that will help citizens understand what the blue economy is and how it impacts them. From real people who make their living on the water, to creative problem solving around
complex issues, the Blue & You sessions will inform and inspire.
Start your engines! British Motorcars will be descending on the beautiful seaside village of Bristol, Rhode Island June 9th - 10th. Driving tours, Block party and show dates have been set for the set for the second week of June.
Blithewold and Bristol Yoga Studio present an outdoor summer yoga series each Monday evening and Friday morning. All are invited to join in for an inspiring class under a canopy of trees, amidst the gardens and waterfront property. Bring a yoga mat and water, and wear comfortable clothing. On Thursday June 15, 2023, the Newport Historical Society will host scholar Marian Mathison Desrosiers, Ph.D. for the talk The Banisters of Rhode Island During the American Revolution. The discussion will explore the question: what were the impacts of loyalty on the lives of the Banister families of Long Island and Aquidneck Island during the fight for independence?

Newport Foodies Stroll offers a 1.75 miles walking food tour through Lower Thames Street. You will learn about the "City by the Sea", as well as try the cuisine from five of the best locally owned restaurants. The best time to schedule your tour is at the beginning of your visit to Newport. The tour runs rain or shine from May - October on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
All tours begin at 11:30am and last 2.5-3 hours. Meet Tom and Sue, your tour guides, in front of the wave statue/sculpture at the intersection of America's Cup and Memorial Boulevard. They will provide water, sunscreen, and disposable rain ponchos.
The Kitchen at Blithewold is serving a light lunch on select Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays in June at 11 AM & 1 PM on Blithewold’s North West Porch.
