Hop into the NBS van for a day trip that hits several birding hot spots throughout the region. Coastal New England is known for large number of rare birds visiting in the winter months. The itinerary is planned to coincide with current sightings reports, so participants have the best chance of spotting rare winter migrants. This program is designed for all birding skill levels and includes a small amount of low-impact walking.

GOAT HIKES AT SIMMONS FARM

When: 1:00 - 3:00 PM
Where: Simmons Farm

Spend a fun afternoon hiking Simmons Farm with your own goat in tow. Breathe in the fresh air, enjoy the views and leave with smile. Enjoy a two-hour goat hike around historic Simmons Farm, hikes will be led by Farmer Karla and her crew of adventurous, fun loving goats. Each participant will get their own goat to walk on a leash. There will be stops along the way to let the goats nibble. Conclude the afternoon with a warm cup of hot chocolate made with the delicious milk from the farm.

 

 

ZODIAC CONSTELLATIONS: AN ADULT ART WORKSHOP

When: 1:00 - 3:00 PM
Where: Tiverton Four Corners, 3852 Main Road, Tiverton
Admission: $40

Mixed media artist, Jen Charleson will explain the basics of how to find the zodiac constellations in the night sky before guiding participants in creating a 6x8” artwork depicting their own zodiac constellation. Students will use stencils and rulers with black ink, pastels, markers, and metallic pens. Each person will go home with a finished and framed work of original art.

 

 

THE AMERICAN BAND IN CONCERT

When: 3:00 - 6:00 PM
Where: Casino Theater, 9 Freebody Street, Newport
