With warmer weather ahead, we're marking our calendars for our destination's upcoming road races. Whether you're a pro athlete or you're looking to dip your toes in the exercise world - this runner's roster has everything you need. Beginners, get your blood flowing with 4-miles across the Pell Bridge at a pace of your choosing. Seasoned runners, enjoy a scenic trail through Newport's winding coastline with expansive ocean views and the perfect sea breeze to keep you cool. Whichever you choose, the following runs are sure to awaken your inner athlete.
NEWPORT NIGHT RUN 5k
Newport's first and only nighttime race, Newport Night Run returns on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 7:30 PM. The 5k serves not only as a community wide opportunity to get moving, but also as a fundraiser for the Newport Public Education Foundation. NPEF is an independent, non-profit whose mission is to improve the performance of Newport public school children by enhancing their educational opportunities and by building broad-based community support for quality public education.

NEWPORT RHODE RACE
The Newport Rhode Race is a stunning marathon, half marathon and 5k starting at 7:30 AM on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Easton’s Beach. The Half Marathon will start at 7:45 AM from the same location followed by the 5k at 8:00 AM. The marathon course is USATF certified and is a Boston Marathon Qualifier. All three races finish at Easton’s Beach.
New in 2019: The Beach Mile will start at noon time, on the beach adjacent to the finish line. It is an out and back on Easton’s Beach, finishing under the Race Arch. As the race is on the beach, please plan for uneven surfaces, beach debris, seaweed, shells, all those wonderful items that we love about the ocean. This will be part of the challenge of completing the course.

GIRLS ON THE RUN 5K & 1-MILE FAMILY FUN RUN
The Girls on the Run 5k & 1-Mile Family Fun Run will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at 8:00 AM at Colt State Park in Bristol. The 5K course is USATF certified and a mostly flat combination of paved and gravel paths that loop through beautiful Colt State Park, finishing along the Narragansett Bay waterfront. There will be water stations at Miles 1 and 2.

NEWPORT 10 MILER
A 10-mile road race around Newport's historic Ocean Drive on Sunday, June 2, 2019. Starting and finishing within the walls of the Fort Adams Fortress, this event will be one of the most unique road races in Rhode Island featuring panoramic ocean views and historic mansions. When you've completed the great feat of running 10 miles, head to the post-race recovery zone where Ragged Island Brewing Co. will be offering all event participants of legal drinking age a post-race beer inside The Fort.

NORMAN BIRD SANCTUARY'S ANNUAL 5K RUN/WALK
Norman Bird Sanctuary will host its 11th Annual 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, June 15, 2019. Run, jog, or walk your way past beautiful views of Second Beach, Third Beach and Norman Bird Sanctuary’s rolling fields and rocky ridges. Kids can join the fun by registering for the Frosty Freez Kids’ Run. Afterwards, head back to the sanctuary for refreshments and the awards ceremony.

BRISTOL INDEPENDENCE RHODE RACE
The Bristol Independence Rhode Race will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2019 in partnership with the Bristol Fourth of July Committee. The half marathon will follow the beautiful downtown streets of America’s quintessential community when it is decked out in its finest – during the oldest 4th of July celebration in America. The course includes incredible historic homes, the town common and the America’s Cup Museum before heading out along the scenic coastline, through Colt State Park and finishing along the water at Independence Park.

NEWPORT CRAFT BREW RACE
The nationally acclaimed event series known for its celebration of local craft brewing, Craft Brew Races, is set to return to Newport on Saturday, July 20, 2019. The race features a 5k followed by a craft beer festival with 40+ local craft breweries, food and live music, and medals and awards for finishers.
The race, held at Fort Adams State Park, begins at 12:00 PM followed by the festival from 12:30 - 4:00 PM. Featured food vendors include: Mission, Winner Winner, Binge BBQ and more.

JAMESTOWN RHODE RACE
The Jamestown Half Marathon will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2019. The event is set on picturesque Conanicut Island and looks out over Narragansett Bay and the Newport Pell Bridge, the largest suspension bridge in New England. The course features vivid landscapes, winding roads, historic Watson Farm as well as the village of Jamestown with its small shops and quaint restaurants. The Half Marathon will start at 7:00 AM.

BRISTOL WARREN EDUCATION FOUNDATION FOOD TRUCK 5/10k
USATF Certified courses will start and finish on the grounds at the Pete Sepe Pavilion in Warren on Saturday, September 28 during the Bristol Warren Education Foundation Food Truck 5/10k. While the course, leading towards Touisett Point, is both flat and straight, it affords participants a scenic experience passing through many of Warren's most charming locations. Course options will vary between 5k, 10k, and a one-mile walk on the East Bay Bike Path. Kid races for ages 13 and under will be offered as well. A Food Truck Festival will proceed the race offering food, a beer garden and live music.

NEWPORT MARATHON & HALF MARATHON
The Newport Marathon course is simply astounding: winding ocean-side roads, miles of waterfront views and sweeping vistas of the grand mansions along Bellevue Avenue. Voted the "Best Marathon in Rhode Island" and a "Top 20 Half Marathon in the USA" in 2018, the race this year takes place on Sunday, October 13, 2019 at 7:30 AM. Choose between the Marathon: 26.2 mile running tour of Aquidneck Island, or the Half Marathon: the scenic first half of the marathon course featuring historic Downtown Newport, Fort Adams, Ocean Drive and the famous Bellevue Avenue mansions.

CITIZENS BANK PELL BRIDGE RUN
Once a year, pedestrians and runners are allowed to cross the Pell Bridge on foot during the Citizens Bank Pell Bridge Run. This year's race will take place on Sunday, October 20, 2019. Open to both runners and walkers, the run is a four-mile excursion from Jamestown to Newport produced by the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority. One hundred percent of proceeds go to support local not-for-profit organizations while promoting a healthy, active lifestyle.
