The winter days are (slowly but surely) beginning to fade here on The Classic Coast, replacing snow-kissed tree tops with brilliant blooms and making way for a blossoming calendar of events. From tens of thousands of daffodils throughout Newport and Bristol Counties to foodie festivals and the return of many of our much-anticipated annual favorites, it's the perfect opportunity to reawaken and renew.

Local chefs and mixologists work diligently to craft their most tempting menus for the return of Newport Restaurant Week with $20 two-course lunches and dinner offerings of $35 three-course menus and $50 three-course menus.

Where: Race begins at Rogers High School

Newport's only nighttime road race, this 5k starts weaves along some of Newport’s most tranquil roads. Funds raised benefit local public schools.



 Easter Bunny Tea and Easter Egg Hunt

Where: Blithewold Mansion, Gardens and Arboretum

Enjoy delicious treats, finger sandwiches, tea, and hot cocoa after an exciting Easter egg hunt on Blithewold's Great Lawn. 



Rhode Race Newport

When: Saturday, April 13
Where: Race begins Easton's Beach

This stunning marathon, half marathon and 5k starts from Easton's Beach where nearly 100,000 daffodils will be in bloom and weaves through Newport including the historic mansion district and neighboring Middletown’s bucolic back roads and nature preserves.



Newport Daffodil Days Festival

When: April 13 - 21
Where: Throughout Newport

Featuring nine days and more than 20 festive, family-friendly events amid nearly one million daffodils throughout the city, Newport Daffodil Days Festival offers shopping strolls, dog parades, private garden tours, parties, a classic car parade, children’s events and more.

Newport is home to far more professionally accredited arboreta than any other city in the world. Arboretum Week, sponsored by Newport Tree Society, celebrates the city’s numerous trees and aims to raise awareness of the natural treasures abounding in Newport’s “urban forest.” Enjoy a week of events including the Lighting of the Trees, a tree walk, lectures and more. 



Blithewold: The Gateway to Spring

When: April & May
WhereBlithewold Mansion, Gardens and Arboretum

Each April, tens of thousands of Daffodils trumpet the arrival of Spring at Blithewold Mansion in Bristol. The well-known daffodil display blankets the 33-acre seaside estate with more than fifty thousand daffodils. 



Easter Egg Hunt & Brunch at Rosecliff

When: Saturday, April 20
Where: Rosecliff

Join the Easter Bunny for an candy-filled egg hunt on the oceanfront lawn of Rosecliff followed by an elaborate sit-down brunch in the famed Newport Mansion. 



Newport Craft Beer Festival

When: April 26 - 27
Where: Lawn of Great Friends Meeting House

The 8th Annual Newport Craft Beer Festival returns for two days of taste-testing, live music and local flavors from area breweries and restaurants. Sample beers from all the breweries present and get a taste of the ‘local flavor’ from Newport restaurants offering their best plates while listening to live bands at each session. 



Rail Explorers Returns

When: Saturday, May 11
Where: Rail Explorers

“Ride the rails” on innovative pedal powered bike/vehicle hybrids which ride on railroad tracks along the edge of Narragansett Bay. All explorers leave at the same time with guides in the lead and last position, and each group enjoys the freedom of the outdoors and the magic of the railroad at their own pace and in their own space. The explorers are easy to ride and fun for all ages. 



Newport Oyster Festival

When: May 17 - 10
Where: Bowen's Wharf

Savor a variety of oysters from local growers, catch a glimpse of the shucking contest, meet with aquaculture educators on site, sip chilled champagne, enjoy live music and more at the annual Newport Oyster Festival.



International Polo Series begins

When: Saturday, June 1
Where: International Polo Ground, Glen Farm, Portsmouth

Witness the excitement of one of the fastest ball sports in the world, played at thoroughbred racing speed. Matches are every Saturday, June through September at 5:00 PM, 4:00 PM in September.   Bring a picnic & blanket to spread on the lawn or reserve centerfield Pavilion seats.  



British Motorcar Festival

When: June 7 - 8
WhereColt State Park

This festival includes a British marketplace with British-inspired products including hard to find car spares and motoring accessories plus British food and regalia, a car corral, town-wide scavenger hunt, a Concours d’Elegance, downtown street party with a concert, a British attire and ladies hat competition, a tailgate competition and more.
