Traveling with the littlest of explorers can be such an adventure, and well let’s be honest, sometimes a challenge. Coordinating nap times (and mansion tours), snacks (and a lobster roll or two), and interests of older children or family members can prove to be tricky.

To make the best of your explorations here in Newport, all while meeting the energy needs of the littlest of travelers, we’ve compiled a list of play pit stops that will engage and de-energize, so that you can, dare we say, relax?

Things Your Kids + Toddlers Will Love

Think: aquarium touch tanks, arcades by the sea, hikes with wildlife sightings, and a topiary scavenger hunt to cap the day.

Newport Public Library

Here you will find sections for children of all ages, including a section that will have you breathing a sigh of relaxation, complete with games, puzzles, comfy chairs for reading, and books of course. This area also boasts three beautifully designed wooden play houses (think miniature colonial homes) complete with little couches, kitchens and play cooking ware.

Your job? Sit back, relax, and take a moment to plan your next stop, or just breathe.

PRO TIP: Aquidneck Park, located directly next to the library, is now home to two elephant sculptures from The Great Elephant Migration in 2024, and a playground just up the lawn from the elephants. Stop here for a photo-op and some outdoor energy fun.
